Enclosed transport would run in the area of 850-1000 each way from sw florida to cali. Thats an extra 1700+ just to get the car there and back, now add the engine and all the other parts that come out and it adds even more to the cost unless they get sold from there and I dont have to bring anything back.
Also, the downtime without a car which is worse. That requires me to add insurance to one of the spares which puts me over 6 cars on the policy and changes my rates, not to mention finishing the car I add to make it drivable which means me having to do work.
Heres a few questions...
How long would it take start to finish?
What types of guarantees would i have as far as the car being reliable?
How about if I ship the car already stripped of engine and such?

We're really looking for a local customer so if any problems arose, we would be there to support the car.
I would think that the work itself could be done in 2-3 weeks and the tuning and fine tuning could be done in 1-2 but ideally we would like to spread it out over 2 months.
We'd want to make sure your car was reliable before it left us so we would ideally drive the car around every day for a week to make sure it was as glitch free as possible. However, with a custom project such as this, glitches are bound to come up (hopefully sooner than later so we can take care of them while the car is still here). We stand behind all of our work 100% so the car will be reliable when it leaves us.
That would cut some of the cost of labor out but not a whole lot. We usually charage about $1200 for a motor swap so that would only save about $600.
Thanks,
Geoff

Thats what I figured...
Im not quite ready to move to Cali yet just to get my car done up, but the deal is awsme and I do have full confidence in your work... I guess if noone else steps up let me know and Ill see what I can do...I may be more capable of shipping my car off for 3 months some time this winter...we shall see.

I'm not planning to put in a new block this year , but I'd like to know how much would your h-6 built block cost ? I already have a gt-35r turbo . How hard would it be to install it into my 2004 sti ? What kind of engine management would be required ? I'd would like to have the block shipped to hawaii to be installed by a shop here . Right now , I'm planning on buying a cosworth steel sleeved race block , but the h-6 still stands as a viable alternate . Thanks for your time .
We haven't priced out the actual block yet but I would imagine somewhere in the neighborhood of $6000. It would be a challenge to install in your 04 STi. Although the motor itself drops in, all the plumbing would be custom and some plasma cutting might be required. A Hydra standalone ECU would be recommended and the tuning would be one of the most challanging aspects of the project.
Thanks,
Geoff

Thanks for your response . The h-6 swap is still a viable option . The cosworth block runs around $8,500 . I'm just wondering on the reliability of the swap for everyday commuting . How much maintenance will be required ? Mainly , ecu reliability . thanks again .
