I take back the thumbs up!!!

They sent me coilovers for an 08 WRX
not for my car an 08 STI.
There is a huge difference and my receipt says they are for an 08 STI

ARGH!!!

Now we get to see how they deal with this.

1SIKBRU what are you going to do with your struts? when you replace them with the coilovers?

probably just toss them in my storage unit.
they are completely useless for anyone that doesnt have an sti because the lower mount is different from sti and wrx, and if I end up selling the car I will want to put them back on.

so quick update, got the rear sway on and I like it a lot.
Sent the wrx coilovers back and am just waiting on the sti ones to show up.
next is gonna be front sway and all the endlinks. btw the stock rear sway endlinks do not work very well with the perrin rear sway bar, so if anyone is thinking of buying the bar, get the end links at the same time.

They look sweet. I am getting the SPT 08 WRX springs for my car (I don't want shocks just yet). How big is your sway bar?

Coilovers showed up this weekend while I was down in LA.
I threw them on last night. Finished after dark so no pix yet.
There are a few things not perfect with the ciolovers. I will take pix today when I get home from class so everyone can see.
As far as ride, they are stiff. They are on the verge of annoying, but still in the fun side.
The install was different from the older body styles, but if you look at the rear suspension that you can see its obviously different.
Not too bad of an install, but was a little time consuming.

Pix up soon! I promise.

Ooooh...if it's annoyingly stiff, that's not encouraging. The SPT springs are 25% stiffer (which is probably just enough because regardless of what the pundits say of the 08 suspension, it can get pretty bloody rough).

I am sick of the 09 owners doing this: to the 08 owners...

The 08 has it's good points too such as being a clean canvas to a tuner without all the electronic doodads (i.e. the moonroof, the dccd which I just bloody hate (too much BMW iDrive influence), the electronic side mirror defrosters, et cetera et cetera). Sure that stuff is cool but c'mon...it's not likely a tuning company is going to pick up an electronic store to run on a track.

In a way, the 08 is a homage to the original GCs (I know they are JDM WRX but everyone knows what bodystyle I am talking about) albeit heavier and safer. Everyone forgets that back in the 1990s, the RS was first considered bland and forgettable by the press (they are really irritating me now between this and the election) and now it's a bloody icon.

Rant over...and I didn't mean to stir the pot. Just something i have been thinking about.
