Shifter ****

Hello Everyone,

I made a new shifter **** for the 08' WRX. It fits on the Kart Boy short shifter. I'll post up the plans this week. It isn't anything crazy, but in case you were wondering what the thread pattern was, you can have it.

all subie's are the same. Golfsick texted me a while ago asking me to look up the thread size on our shifters so thats why it was kinda an inside thing. lol. not anymore.

It's metric threads. 12mm diameter with 1.25 thread pitch. My friend and I actually measured out the threads years ago when we were making our own *****. Metric taps are a ***** to find but there is another part on the car that has the same threads.

Matt, we all know that you love all kinds of *****.

EDIT: Since I have you attention and I just thought about this, do beer taps have a single set thread size? If they do, what is it?

Ha, never knew this was such common knowledge. I was able to pick up a tap at the Ace Hardware in San Mateo.

It was interesting how heavy the stock **** was. Must be to dampen the transmission vibrations.

More weight makes it easier to shift. The shifter will have more inertia going into each gear. Heavy ***** are nice which is why I am torn over my acrylic ****. It's cool but it is lighter than a feather.

Yes, all faucets have the same thread pattern. There is a part (http://morebeer.com/view_product/16295//Silver_Ferrule) on the handle (or I guess you could use a tap to thread some metal) that screws onto the faucet and has a hanger bolt (threaded like a bolt on one end, threaded like a wood screw on the other). That piece threads into the top of the ferrule and then screws into the wooden handle. The shift **** tap that I did though, I just glued the ferrule to the bottom because the faucet parts are obviously much smaller than the shifter linkage and I didn't want to bother filling the **** with resin and then drilling it.

Ok. Here is the model and the drawing that I used in creating my shifter. Maybe it'll help somebody. I tried to create the drawing so that anybody could read and understand it. Sorry it has a ton of info in it. Good luck!

Oh, and everything is in inches, except for the tap. The bottom is shaped for the stock leather(?) boot to hang on to.

Looks pretty good. I am assuming you are going to make this on a lathe. Looks pretty simple and easy to make. What material are you planning to use?
