@subiekid916: the non-turbo engine is not hard on oil. Any name-brand 5W30 conventional oil will be fine. I have used Mobil 2000 and Castrol GTX so far depending on what's on sale. I change my oil every 6 months with a Bosch filter.

I had poor results with Mobil 1 5w-30. I have been using Pento High Performance II 5W-40 and the car is running much better with it.

I also kind of drive the absolute **** out of my car. I've also recently done an oil analysis and it came back pretty good.

I did not have good results with Mobil 1 either in the WRX. I am running OEM Subaru synthetic with zero complaints.

Amsoil, Rotella T6, Subaru synthetic, and Motul are all very good choices. There's also Redline 5w30. I'd stick with with the Subaru oil filter for the bypass pressure setting though. 5w30 is the recommended but 5w40 is stated as allowed in the manual I believe. Takes research to find what is a good oil. Mobil 1 is good but it's thermal breakdown isn't that great compared to Motul, Amsoil, and Redline. Folks go with T6 cause it works, oil analysis comes back good and it's cheap.

It's a non-turbo. he can run basically whatever he wants. He doesn't need Rotella or Motul. Nor would Mobil 1 be bad on his car.

Oh wow, I'm sorry. I even read that and totally spaced out on the fact it's na. Then yea run anything you want. Everything I said is just too much than what your motor actually needs. Wouldn't hurt you but yea... :P

Most of the reasons we run stuff like Rotella and DON'T run Mobil 5w30 is related to how well the oils handle high heat. Turbo Subaru engines run much hotter than the n/a ones and can be somewhat more sensitive to oil choices. OP's car doesn't need anything special. As long as whatever he runs isn't really poor quality it doesn't matter what he picks.
