Mobil 1 syn oil is bad?

hey everyone, i've been trying to do some research about synthetic engine oils(e.g, Mobil 1) but there's so much controversy about it.

I used to think synthetic oils are good for turbo cars, but now people say its just hype... that its too thin for the car and ends up getting burned the more i gather information . GAHH!

is it better to just go for synthetic blend?

p.s i kinda started stocking up on synthetic ... =[

This topic will never be solved. Some swear by it, and some avoid it like the plague.

Me? I just avoid it all together just in case.

Mobil 1 syn is garbage, some say they changed the formula, it has just always been crap in my opinion,

My car would eat 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart in between oil changes. And I had flat spots in the powerband, but now I use castrol edge syn. Its been fantastic, no more flat spots and it has been chewing up oil either.

But as stated this topic will never be solved, I'm sure if you searched you would find the many debates just on i-club alone

Think with your dipstick jimmy!

I've used it majority of the time, LIC uses it when they do my oil, I've seen A1GP teams at Laguna Seca use it. Don't trust anyone's "facts" that it is bad unless they have legit information to back it up.

Some may say it is a subpar formula. Maybe it slightly is? Maybe it just shows the weaknesses in subpar motors. If it works for you, it works for you. I've never had oil consumption issues with it. Others obviously have.

Is it true that once you go synthetic, you can't go back?

alright well since i already stocked up on a few jugs on Mobil 1, ill use that for a few cycles. Once i notice the oil is getting burned up, then i'm going to change to castrol edge.

since my 09 only holds 4.2 quarts, i only put 4, 1 quart bottles in it. so im only off by 0.2qt which shouldn't be a big problem...
