Has anyone heard of the 2008 STi factory defects

I heard from a fellow member that the 2008 STi has a factory defect (fuel pump) of running to lean causing damage to the pistons.

Is this true?

Also, I was advised to purchase a Walboro 255 fuel pump and custom tuning map from Crawford to correct the problem.

If anyone has heard of any problems, please let me know.

Peace

They have the Walboros in stock, and can install and tune you at a great price.

Talk to the receptionist Greg, he'll set you up.

I don't think it had so much to do with the tune. It had something to with fuel cutoff when driving aggressively causing the ringlands on certain cylinders to blow.

It is a horrible tune from Subaru and weak pistons. The ringlands crack and pop the motor. Get a tune asap and you will likely have no worries. It's not the fuel pump, it is the tune and weak pistons. Same issue some 07s had.

My '08 WRX had a piping recall around the turbo, but mine wasn't defective. They just put the support bracket in and sent me on...

Yea they really should give him a better title. It makes me laugh every time I get transferred to the receptionist.
