WRX vs XT question
Anyone go from a WRX to a Forester XT?
They say the XT is faster.. but it has less horsepower but makes up for it in torque from the .5 displacement, but isn't the weight difference a factor?
any modded XT's out there?
looking to purchase one and keeping the wagon also

The FX-T only has less BHP on paper, in real life it's closer to 240. It's quicker and has almost no turbo lag. I have some mod info here in the forester section:

I am torn between getting the WRX wagon or the XT as well. Finally practicaly came through.
The XT has more room, a massive sunroof and cheaper price when similarly equiped. Plus subjectives such as "stealth highway cruiser", WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) my choice has to be the XT.
I do like the WRX wagon alot, centre tach and sport seats are a big plus but since this is the only family vehicle so........
I went TSD rallying with my XT a couple of weeks ago and it works great.

It could do more but it's ECU limited to 129 MPH chances are good your speedo is off a little, mine is.
Traded in y '02 5MT WRX in for a '05 4EAT FXT...my GF said that I didn't even give my WRX a goodbye glance as we drove away in the FXT! LOL! I love the auto FXT and wish I had done it sooner. Body roll is bad, but power is very nice! Seats in WRX are better.

I suggest you install an 04" USDM STi rear sway bar. It's simple to do (I have a scoobymods page on it) and the cost is about 100 USD. It makes a noticable difference in body roll. I thought the XT shifter was kind of mushy and installed the KB bushings and the Forester KB shifter. That helped too with the feel. The Foresters shift lever is about 2" longer than the stock WRX shifter.

AFAIK it won't, the links are not the same for one thing. I think there is a whiteline one that will fit though. Search here and you can get more details.

I traded my MY 02 WRX for a MY 04 FXT. Not because the Forester is faster or better simple fact is me and wifey are expecting our first child in Sept. so we needed the space the Forester provides. I loved my WRX and if I was still single and didn't need the practicality of a family vehicle I would have kept my WRX and yes I shed a tear when I drove away from it. I have however always wanted a forester and since their turbo charged now Ian will grow up experienceing the Beauty of an AWD turbo

I've been driving an XT for the last few days. The dealer gave it to me as a loaner while my WRX is in getting warranty work done. Let me tell you, I love this car. I like how much interior room there is, the upgraded sound system sounds 10 times better than the one in the WRX, and it's just as quick. The power down low is awesome. It might actually be a little bit faster than my WRX. Who knows. All I know is that I should have test drove one of these before I bought my WRX, but I was so set on it I didn't even think about it. Maybe it can be my wife's next car......
My girlfriend has had the Auto XT for about a year and loves it. We trade about once a week, and she drives my WRX sedan. I like the extra space the XT has, and the power. I probably would have bought one over my WRX if she had bought something different. Right now though, I would have to give heavy consideration to the new turbo Outback. A buddy of mine that works for Subie was driving a NA version 6 cylinder when I saw him a few weeks ago... VERY nice car. (Except for the portion of the interior that was chewed up from his Great Dane.) lol... Rumour has it that they are looking at a turbo'd 6 cyclinder for future models. That would be Sweeeet!
