How much does it cost to get a re-built transmission on a forester?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 1998 and I think it is goign to need a transmission fix as I have noticed soem slippage. It has 112000 miles on it so I am not sure if this is a typical time for when the tranny goes bad or not. Either way I was wondering if others have had their transmissions rebuilt or replaced how much it cost them.

Depends on what's wrong, how complete of a rebuild the shop does, etc.

My guess is $2000 installed...not @ a dealer.
