Please help!! 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport been in the shop 3 weeks!!

Ok, So I have a 1999 Subaru Outback Impreza Sport and the car has been in the shop for 3 weeks now and we have still not fixed the problem.

3-weeks ago I was at a stop light, held down the clutch for a second as the guy in front of me was slow to start. Once I let go of the clutch and accelerated the car let out a bad smell and lost all power. I pulled into a parking lot.

The car will start, but idles really low, and will not get any power at all. Hardly able to get it to move at all.

The check engine light came on.

We replaced the Camshaft sensors, the MAP sensor and removed the Cat converter. The car is still not getting any power, and will not run.

Any ideas???? Please help!!

Was there a check engine light? Any odd noises?

The check engine light did come on. I am trying to get the code numbers today to post...

Yeah it did sound kind of funny. When I would start it, it sounded like it was kind of clinging while running. Almost like a metal like sound?? Kind of like a chain dragging...

We also removed the cat converter completely to see if it would run. still no dice.

The codes indicated the camshaft sensor.

I am waiting for the mechanic to finish lunch. I will post the codes ASAP.
