o7 impreza project
hey everyone, im new to the subaru family, i just bought an 07 impreza 2.5 i . i will have a pic shortly. i wanted to do kind of an sti clone thing with the body. so far i have an sti spoiler and hood but i dont really think i would like the sti badges. ( just because i hated those people that put a type r badge on some civic). anyways, back to my project, i put on an obx exhaust and now i want to do intake. the good thing about our subaru dealership here is that the salesman have modded subaru's so i talked to him and he talked me out of the spt intake. any advice on what kind of intake i should get as far as sound and performance? or any advice about subaru's for that matter? thanks ! oh i posted this in the project forum also but i think it might get read more here

There's a difference from the Honda Type R emblem and the Subaru STI emblem.
The Honda emblem is strictly a version of the Integra/Civic. The STI emblem is not only the name of a version of the impreza, but the company who makes the parts that they use for that car. So badging your car STI doesn't necessarily mean you are trying to be an Impreza WRX STI, but that you are wearing the badge of the company who makes some of the baddest parts for the Impreza. (=
have fun with the car, I work on WRX's so i don't really know too much about the NA ones, but I'm sure someone else will chime in shortly.

the best intake is your stock one all u need is a perrin drop in or k&n but getting a aftermarket intake is piontless and the spt one is one of the best i dont recomend getting an aftermarket intake till you get a turbo upgrade and am talking BIG turbo and the best intake when you get a bigger turbo is the perrin but for now stay stock man you dont need it and if yo really want one go with spt, its the only one proven to gain about 49hp WITH A TUNE and theres a post about that

You could do what I did...
I removed the intake silencer (or "snorkel"/"Snorkus" as it has been called before) and enlarge the hole in the airbox that leads to the fender. Then seal the airbox hole to the fender hole using foam weatherstrip... Then install the fender block-off for a 98-01 impreza. I noticed a slight increase in throttle response (but it could be just more noise). Also, dirt is more evenly distributed accross the filter, which means better filtration... I'd like to add a drop-in air filter to see if it improves any further.

Yeah I had the same kinda question and feelings towards that subject. I'm really leaning towards gettin a 2.5i, the price, features, and modding ability seem amazing. I saw some options that I could get with it, such as STI metal pedals, the STI shift pattern guide (Dont worry, it's labeled for 5 gears, not 6), and some other things.
I was just a lil unsure on the STI thing tho, because I'd love some metal pedals, but I know it's not an STI (even tho I will most likely be dropping in the STI engine at some later time).
Do most folks feel the same way as SubyN00by ?
They have options for valve caps too, you think I should get SPT, or STI caps?
Am I str8 combining some SPT labeled things with STI?
Lol so many questions, but hey, this would be my first new car purchase, and I'm fairly new to Subaru. Decisions, decisions.

you can get away with it, but some things to me would be alittle too cheesy. peddles i could do specially if they truely mount to the car and not stick ontop of the current ones, but valve caps i would pass on
