the other day i turned the key and it sputtered at about 200 rpm for a few seconds then sputtered a lot more at about 800 rpm then the tack zoomed up to 2500 and slowly settled to about 1100 like normal. the car seemed to be fine when i drove home. but the sputtering was very violent and actually shook the car. i thought it might be the battery being low on power and not quite being able to get the car started so it sputtered. and it is the stock battery so its 6 years old...any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.

this happened to me every now and then, i had to replace my cold air idle sensor, which was bad, but i threw a CEL. another thing, did it happen during or after it rained, your wires might be getting wet. Or it could be something in the fuel system getting clogged, when is the last time you changed your fuel filter? Spark Plugs?

 

i just put in a K&N panel filter maybe 1000 miles ago. it had rained maybe a week before that. never changed fuel filter or spark plugs.
