Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Lightbulb New intake idea

Ok, I have a friend who has a hood scoop and we were thinking that I could take out the stock air intake and make a custom box for the upper (the one on the throttle body) air box, and mount the scoop above it and have it forcefeed into the custom air box.

The idea is that when the hood is closed, there will be a plush "seal" between the bottom of the hood and the top of the airbox, and when going down the road, you get the coolest air possible, and theoretically, the faster you go, the more air the engine gets.

My question is could this work?
And any idea about how much power would be acquired?

 <gotta throw that in

its been done, but i hardly see a poin to it... there will be minimal if any hp gains, plus it will probably be ghetto unless you do it right.

If Iam picturing this correctly. the air entering will be warmer than the air from the stock set up because its coming over the hood. Hood=Engine=Hot

My 02 cents

yeeaaaa thats why all those wrx guys have blazing hot intercoolers hahaha

its been done many times and there have been arguments over the ait going straight from being sucked in and goin right to the throttle body to kill torque. also with no area for anything to get around water would go right into the filter and well no more engine

Now...Now... Lets think a little creative on this one.

Piker you usually seem a little more strategic with your words, but I'm thinking a mere jest.

Hoodscoop right above intake manifold means that if you took the scoop off and built a ram style intake, it would have the appearence of an old 70's blower.

Visualize not literize.
