Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Smile Need help, First time buying a car.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I've been looking for 2000-2001 Imprezas for quite some time now. I've come across this...
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...ar=&cardist=25
I've never bought a car myself, nor known how to look for problems. I can tell the simple things as leaks and whatnot. But not any of the serious items.
I'm not really sure if this is a good price or not. I would like some of your guys and girls input. I've made an appointment this week to go test drive it and see whats up. Thanks again.

Jason

I think this came up a little while ago, but yeah. I have a '97 Impreza L and the most major problem that I've seen is that the seals die out after awhile. They are silicone. Just like breast implants, after awhile, they break down. A few months back, I had massive oil leaks because of that. Other than that, I don't see anything else that would be bad. I think you should consider getting a used WRX here on the forum. You can probably get one for about $11-$13K. Spend a little more and get the nice features and the turbo. See if you can try to haggle down the price a little more. Like $9000 or something. Keep in mind that you can get a used WRX from private party for $11 or $12k.

Good luck.

Yeah, I thought the price they were asking was alittle high. Since now adays you can get a brand new car for 10k anyways. I want to get a WRX but I dont think my insurance will like it at all. Hopefully I'll be able to lower the price to maybe 6-7k. Since kbb said thats what the trade in value was.

If it makes you feel any better, I am paying massively a lot for insurance for my car. Probably because it is a coupe. I think you should call your insurance company and see how it compares.
