Make My 03 OBS Go Zip

An old college buddy of mine did a really "cruel" thing. He took me for a ride in his 03 WRX. Now I'm craving just a little bit more "oomph" from my 03 OBS. I have no disillusions of being able to motor like that. I'm just looking for a bit more pep from my black beauty.

Where should I start? What are some easy beginning mods to get my feet wet? (ECU chip, filter, and exhaust are my first thoughts)

I believe exhaust would give you the best return, I don't know if an intake works well with an 03, but on my 99, thats supposed to be the best bang for you buck. As far as ECUs, I think they are just now coming out with them for our cars, and doubt they are well tested. A better filter would help some, as would such items as lightened flywheel or pully's (you could go underdrive, but then your not running accessories at the speed they were designed for). Exhaust is probably going to give the biggest gain (of bolt ons), but don't expect much unless you start really tearing into it. Hopefully someone else can give you more info/specifics. Good Luck

Thanks Kravdra. I'll do some learning then and see how serious I still stay about this. I'm reading my way through the Exhaust postings here. Good stuff. Seems like some folks are noticing some higher performace just with the exhaust mod.

I got relativley similar advice from the Yahoo OBS forum too.

Make your OBS fast? Easy.

1. Drive to Subaru dealer, trade in for a WRX wagon.
2. ???
3. Profit!!!

Okay seriosuly, if you want it to be fast, just go buy a WRX or STi or Legacy GT or something. If you want it to just be a bit fastER, then there's a few things you can do. Basically, headers, intake, exhaust, then cams.
