machanic?? how much to change timing belt

i am about to sell my 1995 impreza 2.2 liter
and they guy wants to take it to a machanic
i know the timing belt is worn a bit....
and i get a "little" bit of leaking from the power stearing thing
whatever that's called.. you know where you pour
the stearing fluid in.. it's really nothing..
i was just woundering how much it might cost
to change the belt.. and maybe even the power stearing thing.

I'd say somewhere around $400 for the timing belt. No idea on the PS pump since I can't tell you whats wrong with it without more information. You could just get a service manual for your car, offer a mechanic some cash on the side to do it for you and teach you how to do it in the process.

i just had the timing belt in my girlfriends 97 OBS changed, it cost $368 total. i have no idea on the PS, maybe just check to make sure the cap is on tight and not double threaded on there

if he insists on getting the TB changed, ask him to split the cost, since he's the one who won't ever have to do it again.

It is also probably a good idea to change the water pump at the same time. Unless of course you would have to pay for it for the guy that is buying the car.
