Look in if you have BORLA's
Look in if you have BORLA's
I ordered a set of Borla headers today for my 02 2.5RS and was just curious about everyone elses experience with them. I hear a lot of people say they have problems with them cracking and with them not fitting right. But not on the negative side what kinda gains will i see (I already have exhaust) and what kinda sound? Lastly would it be worthwhile to have a custom cat welded from the header to my exhaust??? FOund someone who said the would do it and it seems like a good idea but is it worth it?
Thanks in advance

ok, I have them and love them. I cant be too specific with noise as i got my exhaust at the same time but I love em. I have also had no problems yet. As a side note, Borla has continuously been improving build quality so risk is down and I hear they are wonderful about replacing those that break. GO FOR IT!!!!
I got them on my car sunday. Latest generation. The sound is more deep and a good rumble too them. It is more torquey down low now. I've heard gains for driving in 5th gear but I haven't found out yet(spare tire). So I'll get back to you on that.
Thank god...could really use more upper end. How do I kno if i got the latest generation??? I mean i got them off Performance Center.com which was a place recommended to me from someone on here who ordered throgh them. ANy ideas?
Thanks Again

I own borlas. I cracked welds on my first set in 2 places. They were great about replacing them though although the whole process was still a hassle. The performance gain with exhaust depending on your other mods should be around .3-.5 off your 1/4th time. They really improve power. Sound is upped but nothing much worse then an upgraded exhaust already is, and nothing close to a loud honda style noise. My new set has yet to crack but I'm waiting for time to tell. Make sure you replace the gasket on the cat when you change the header out as it cannot be reused and will definitely leak. Personally I'd suggest saving your money on the cat unless you're planning to stay N/A forever, but thats just me, I'm sure some Hp is found by doing it. Watch out for CEL's though with any upgraded cat system.

now with my car off the spare I can say the borlas do help me on the top end. I raced a chic in a RS at the track, she got me on the launch but I kept kreeping on her and actually won the race cause I had more top end gain then her. She had intake, exhaust, and pullies. I had intake, exhaust, headers

I have a weapon r intake, borla header, random tech cat, apexi mid pipe, and blitz nur spec exhaust. I've notice verry good gains from the highflow cat. When I just had the borla on before the cat I would usually barely pull on my friend with an rs who has the same mods as me. Now we did some more tests and once I hit second I start to pull really hard, we only went to mid 3rd but I can tell there is a huge gain in 4th. Can't take my car over 90 because of blizzak ws 50's. I love the sound too!!!
ya i got them on and noticed some ok gains all around but i love the sound!! Just sounds MEAN!! I reset my ECU and am still breakin them in a litte so i hope they'll pep up a little. Overall though i'm happy. Install was a brezze after i got the stock two bolts atached to the cat. But overall I'm pleased with them
