i have a 2002 2.5 rs and am looking far an exhaust. i am haveing trouble finding any out there. i can find to 2001 and after that it's just wrx. the problem my freind told me using a wrx exhaust on a 2.5 rs is that the piping is to big and will bog down the engin. i am at a total loss right now and would love some help on what exhaust will fit my car.. thanks...

 

For engine and what not you follow upto the 2001/2.5RS Seris performance parts, for exterior you use the 2002+ WRX parts. If im not mistaken the WRX mid pipe is larger than the 2.5RS like you said and the engine will idle too low and too much flow. Stick with a 2.5" exhaust not 3".

 

for your 2.5rs engine you want 2.25". this is the optimal size for the car. stock wrx exhaust is 2.25", but it wont just bolt on. check out stromung or something made specifically for your car

ok so just to make sure i'm getting this right.... 2002 2.5 rs anatomy goes... under the hood... 2001 parts.... visual exterior 2002 wrx parts correct? if that is correct that helps me tremendously thank you so much.. that will put to rest months of confusion.

Exactly.. i was stumped on this for months now but yes... if you are moding your engin you have to look @ 2001 models.... if you are looking for interior /exterior you get 2002 wrx part... it opened a whole bunch of doors...

 

is it the same for the 05 engine too?

 

not really sure on that.. i assume it is... if i remember correctly there hasn't been to much of a change until the 2006 2.5 rs came into play. not even sure what really changed on that except for the fact that they squeezed 5 more horse power out of it. does anyone know if this is true???

 

I have one more question, u said 01' RS parts can be fit to 02', how about 00' or earlier?

 

i believe 97 - 2001 will work on 2002 2.5 rs

 

so for engine stuff on the 2000 rs, all models of the 2001 will fit or only the rs parts?

does this include the exhuast?

The 2005 RS went back to the MAF system. So intakes are different, other than that, i'm not sure for the 05

 

for exhast just buy a universal muffler you like then go to your local muffler shop and have them put 2.25 straight pipe cat back on your car. I paid about 250 for the whole setup installed this includes a $170 carbon fiber muffler. id like you to try to find a kit that compares in price and quality. Since its custom made it fits perfect. unlike the $400+ axel back (sport muffler) i got from tthe dealer.
