How restrictive is the stock muffler?

Thanks. I felt a little like a sellout at first, but I do really enjoy driving my GT (not RS). I still have an itch for a Neon though...something like a 2001 ACR--I liked the 2nd gen cars better.

Wow--just got it installed this afternoon. These cars sound terrific with just a fartcan on them! The one I chose looks almost stock, thanks to the small size. It's loud at low RPM, then gets quieter over 3000, then gets louder from 4500 to redline. Great mod. Had I known it would sound this good, I'd have done this from day 1.

If you think this sounds good, you should put a set of Borla headers on also. It seems about 85-90% of the people that have them installed LOVES the sound of them. Deep throaty V8-like rumble to them.

As much as I'd like to stick some headers on (man, does it look easy, too), I'm not really putting forth any more money to mod the car. I've got a motorcycle to save for....

muffler=waste of time in my opinion, yeah, you'll get sound, but that's nearly it. as far as getting 15 horses from just an exhaust, even a catback, I'd believe it if someone showed me before and after dynos. You'll be disappointed if you get just the muffler though. I was, and now I gotta redo the whole exhaust -again- And I'd be really suprized to see 30 horses from a turboed suby with just an exhaust, unless your running well over stock boost. (but this is the N/A forum as someone mentioned, so who cares....
