Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

happy INJEN CAI owner

I recently bought and installed the Injen race division intake for my 98 2.5rs. The sound difference is amazing. When you hit 3500 rpm with the throttle open, the engine comes alive with a very throaty and grumbly sound and then quietens somewhat as you near 4300. There is a significant hp increase as well in the higher rpms. I just wanted to pass the information along to anyone who was thinking about which intake to get.

i bought it for 260 plus 16 dollars shipping from planetperformance.com . I haven't had any problems except for vibrations which will be an easy fix. Although lately my airbag light has come on. It is only on sometimes. I haven't put it to the computer yet, but i can't think of any way it could be related.

Dude, you guys could have had a Cobb and a MAF adapter for that much. You got schooled. That's a $130 intake.

The Cobb is universally agreed upon by by both major Subaru boards to make the most power. It also comes from a highly reputable company and has superb build quality. It also lists for $269 new, but you can usually find discounted used ones for less. The MAF adapter is just a bracket that fits upstream of your MAF sensor, so you can keep the stock mounting, so that it doesn't blow like 324235 times. And I meant the Injen is a $130 intake.

Cobb does not, because intakes tend to cause MAF failure. Just do the silencer mod for free, and you'll be halfway to what would cost $100-150 dollars. You won't be giving up much with your motor by not running an intake. I have a Ganzflow on my '01 RS, but that's only because I got a really good deal on a used one, and even then I like the sound more than the power gain.

To be honest, I wouldn't recomend any right now. The best thing to do is just do the silencer mod to get better sound and a tiny amount more power, and then get a pulley for what you'd be spending on an intake.
