there's two cats, one within the headers, and then one, after the headers, IIRC

interesting. and you threw no codes after removing that cat (the one after the headers, right before the resonator) ?
I was planning to do that, but was told
a) illegal
b) throw codes
c) dramatic increase of gas consumption (unless tuned)

or it's replaced with an HFC

if you look, you will notice that there is NO wires leading to the 2nd cat, this can mean its anything (including a cat). but since there is no wires leading to the 2nd cat, the ecu can not read it. so it can not tell if the 2nd cat is there or not. how ever if you do look, you'll notice that the 1st cat (located into the header) will have 2 sensors, front & rear o2 sensors, this one IS monitored by the cars ecu. so dont worry about removing the 2nd cat, you're fine and legal. just tell the muffler shop that it is a 'resinator'. and show them the 1st cat with the wires leading to it, so they think they are not messing is a cat. do NOT mention anything about removing a cat to them as they will not do it for you, simply tell them its a 'resinator'

well that would be all fine and dandy to do if you wanted to keep the stock headers. I changed my headers and it removed the first cat and then i had to have the two 02 sensors re-routed to go to the 2nd one. was workin fine for about 2 months but just last night my car started throwing a check engine light with flashing cruise control. I gotta go have it checked out and see what code it's throwing. I tighten up the gas tank this morning and nothing changed so hopefully it's nothing big....hopefully.

hey what's up man. nah i ended up keeping my rallitek headers. I prob. should have went with borla since they are alot cheaper. I don't think rallitek even sells these headers anymore. I'm pretty satisfied with them though. as about throwing the cel code. I fixed it, i just had to unscrew and rescrew my gas cap on. heh, glad that's all it was. The only thing i don't like about my exhaust is when i got it all put on i didn't realize i needed that 2nd cat (resonator) and i had sold it. well when i got everything put on, they HAD to put on a generic cat on it so that it could legal. it now gives it a slight raspy noise over the axle back and engine. when i get a chance im going to get a test pipe that i seen on some website, i forgot the name of it. that or get a better cat/ resonator because the stock one for the subie is like $560.00 for that stupid little piece.

j-chow, have you gotten anything done to the ride? last time i talked to you i think you were still pretty stock. do i have you on my myspace? i don't remember.

Yeah I did notice a nice little gain and faster response. I'm definitely glad i got them. there's alot of curves in the stock pipe man, the rallitek takes out all those curves and it's pratically straight all the way back except for the little curve off the block. So it gives it a much faster, smother flow out.
