exhaust questions
I figure this should probably be in the exhaust thread above but thought it may get a bit more attention by itself. Heres my problem, i want to do a custom exhaust since i already have the muffler, but the exhaust shops in my area only od crush bending and not mandrel. I know the flow restrictions caused by crush bends but i really dont have any other choice im going from the cat back. I was looking to get 2.25 inch piping but now im wondering if i should do 2.5 to make up for any restrictions that the bending may cause. What do you guys think i should do?

It really depends on the shop and how they decide to make the catback. Some shops will use cut pieces of mandrel bent pipe, it usually costs more and takes more welding, but it will negate crush bending issues. Other shops try to minimise the crush bends, and do a pretty good job of it, others dont... Check and see what kind of work that specific shop does, and if they use alot of crush bends, the 2.5" might be a good idea.
When I had my custom midpipe made, the shop I took it to managed to use just like one slight bend and that was it: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...55284377ZyqGzd

did moving to the larger piping make a big difference in power? they have theyre own sprint car so im sure their exhaust is fairly goodthey quoted me 100 dollars for the midpipe and the axleback. i have the muffler already and im not getting a resonator he didnt recommend it as and option for an upgraded exhaust becaust of the flow restrictions and i agree.

well im in college 80 some miles away and that could become an issue but i also have a 500 watt stereo so i may be able to compensate but if it gets to be too much I could always have one put in. After the exhaust i think im gonna take a break from performance i have a few things i need to buy for the exterior. wheels and an rs vis hood. hopefully the exhaust should keep me zippy for a bit LOL. And hopefully dosnt get me in too much trouble.

It will sound excellent, ive heard 3 RS's now with magnaflows, all sound perfect. The non-resonated one is definatly quieter inside the car, and it still sounds great. The non-resonated, especially with like borla headers, is loud. Its not the loudest N/A impreza ive heard, but it is pretty loud.

you mean the resonated one is quiet in the car? Cool thats what im looking for i want an exellent suby sound. I was under the car looking today and for our cars getting a crush bent exhaust isnt that bad compared to some cars our exhaust line is very strait specially the midpipe. The axleback has a bend but thats really the only bend. Hopefully come sept. ill have it installed. BTW the magnaflow on mine now sounds good, Its a bit raspy at start up but after a little drive its very deep not to mention i get a cool pop here and there with a downshift.
