Exhaust/Intake Benefits?
Hey all,
I have a 93 L with the EJ18. A while back I built a short-ram intake for her and now I'm looking into exhaust. I've been doing a bit of research. On here as well as SPD Tuning and Cobb Tuning. In the technical articles they are saying there is little to no benefit to either on a normally aspirated engine unless you change out your cams, so now I am looking into that angle. On here, however, I see peeps say that they saw power increases from intakes and exhausts.
When I built the intake for my car I know it changed the sound. It also seemed like she pulled a little harder. Was the harder pull all in my head??
I'd just like a little feed-back from peeps who have done one or both and what they think. Definite knowledge, honest opinion, personal experience, whatever.
Thanx alot guys,
J

I would say that I felt a noticeable difference. (Injen intake and Stromung exahust) More than anything they smoothed out the power band all the way through. It pulled harder and smoother. Not that anybody who care, but i saw about 2-3 mpg better than stock also.
Even if the power gains are in your head, who cares. There's no better sound than a suby engine reving up.

As long as there is any power gain at all I guess I'm happy. That lil boost in mpg sounds good too. Especially the way gas prices are here.
Yer right about the sound. I can't wait til I get my exhaust on. I'm thinking custom cat-back with a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler with a dual tip. Stainless if I can afford it.
