Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

I finally got around to getting my custom catback exhaust done and it's incredible. As long as it's welded properly and doesn't have leaks, and is the right size, it will work as well as any pre-assembled system, if you use a straight-through muffler like a Magnaflow (my system uses one. Noticed an AWESOME sound and it feels like it accelerates more crisply as well.

custom exhaust

hi, i was wondering if i want to do a custom exhaust from turbo back, what size piping should i use and how much should i expect to pay. What kind of gain would i expect also. Sorry for these stupid questions. i have done a search but not too many have custom exhaust from a muffler shop. THanks in advance

Don't listen to him, his car sounds rice! If you go custom, do 2.25" piping and get madrel not crushed bends.

To the turbo guy, you are in the wrong forum man. You'd want 3inch or so piping. I'd suggest picking up already made up/down pipes.

Hey, just because I can't toss fireballs, doesn't mean my exhaust was rice! Not only was it the loudest but it sounded the best too. You gotta give me that.
For the record it's 2.25" mandrel bent mipipe with a 2.25" single tip Magnaflow SS muffler, complete with blown re-used stock gaskets. Going to replace those to get rid of the funky rattle I developed today bouncing off the rev limiter at idle at the Mt Hamilton meet Loudest Car Contest. I officially had the loudest properly-running car there.

Oh, and yeah, turbo forum is one more down. And a pre-made downpipe is a lot easier to get, and not really any more expensive.
