Bosal vs. TurboXS
I was quoted the following from a local performance shop and wanted to hear your comments:
"We do have the TurboXS turbo back exhaust in stock. It lists for $1150.00 plus $85.00 to install. It’s a great system, and includes a high flow cat. I have yet to have ANYONE have a problem with inspections. (that’s strictly un-official of course). In addition, I stock the Bosal down pipe, and Cat back exhaust. That’s another option for you. We have put together a MSPT POWER PACKAGE which includes the BOSAL Downpipe, The BOSAL Cat Back and an ECUTEK remap of your ECU for $1375.00 installed."
Questions:
1) Are these prices reasonable?
2) I do not want the exhaust to sound much louder. Which of these two gives me the lower db rating?
3) Which exhaust do you think adds the most HP?
4) I was thinking of going with the Cobb AccessECU flash to avoid the ECUTEK signature and also for the cost-effective flash upgrades. However, is the $1375 installed too good a deal to pass?
Thanks for your time.

$1150 is an awful lot of money for an exhaust, but one with a high flow cat is better than the Bosal. Ask what it would be for the TurboXS and the reflash. That's the route I would take.

That seems to be the going rate (within $100) for the TurboXS Turbo-back exhaust.
I really am looking for an increase in HP and for the turbo to spool up faster. The exhaust "sound" doesn't matter that much to me so perhaps changing the exhaust isn't for me.
I am going to read some of the posts here to see about the benefits of a cat-less up pipe instead.
My main concern, as many others agree, is to pass the state (New York) emmission tests and not to have Subaru giving me a hard time with the warranty if they see the mod.
That's why I really don't want to go with the ECUTEK. Cobb AccessECU doesn't leave a signature.
Now to the search.....
