Another lame ass exhaust thread....

All right guys I know this is a tired topic and I don’t feel like doing a search so spare me. I have an opportunity to get a Borla header and CAT back exhaust for a pretty good price and I was wondering if you guys had any opinion (frankly I’d be shocked of you didn’t) on the quality of the workmanship and the sound. I’m giving the car to my wife (I’m getting a Z) in a few months and she/we are concerned it’s not a conservative enough sound for her to tool around town in but she wants it to have a little more ***** than it does stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
JJ

If you are concerned about sound, pass on the Borla headers, get a baffled muffler of your choice, and resonate it. I have Borla headers and a custom straight-through Magnaflow non-resonated exhaust, and it is LOUD. Getting MRT headers and a custom exhaust like a Flowmaster 40 series won't be loud but will add power.
the borla cat back on stock exhaust isnt that loud, very smooth sounding, and no real drone at highway speeds. it wont add too much power that way though. borla headers on stock exhaust add a nice boxer sound, free up a little bottom end, and add a little depth to the exhaust while not being loud at all. if you combine both though, they are pretty loud, good highway drone, and good luck with not setting off car alarms if you pass them accelerating. very nice sound though, very deep, most people say it sounds like a harley.

The Admiral, if you get a high flow cat put in at the same time if should help power quite a bit. As long as you get a big resonantor and a quiet muffler, it shouldn't be too loud.

(edit: I just noticed his name is "the Admiral" and that's extremely funny since he's talking like a pirate! )
