Hi.
My personal favorite combo, for sound anyway, is a Cobb intake with a Scoobysport or Prodrive full exhaust system. But then again, that'll cost you probably $700, and that's a heck of a lot for just exhaust and CAI.
If you're on a budget, have a muffler shop build you a cat-back, and get away with the whole thing for ~$200 if it isn't stainless (more if it is). Insofar as CAIs go, www.pdm-racing.com has one for $50 that's my personal choice for a CAI, when I pony up the money. The PDM (and GanzFlow, a similar design) maintains the OEM airbox, whereas the Cobb eliminates it.
The Cobb has greater power gain, but for me it's better to have a little more protection against water suck, since my car's a daily driver in New England. The OEM airbox has drain holes. That's a good thing.

Well, www.prodrive-usa.com *might* be able to hook you up with a sound clip, if you contact someone there. Not sure.
A Scoobysport clip you can hear right on their website, check out www.rallyperformance.com which is their USA vendor in Pennsylvania. I think it plays automatically on the exhaust page.
I forget. If not, contact Ken Cole at kccole@adelphia.net ... he's the Email contact for them and can probably Email you the clip.
I have it saved on my PC but I have 56k, it'd take like a year to upload to you.

Check out the full MRT exhaust too. It's headers and catback together for about $800 from Langston Subaru. As far as intakes go, Cobb is the very best as far as power, but a used Ganzflow will get you 5 or 6 of the 8 horses the Cobb gets for about 1/3 of the cost. Having the stock plenum box does help, and you'll want to get a K&N or equivalent too. (Unless you get the Cobb, which has an in-line filter.) Anyways, there are clips of the MRT exhaust floating around here and on some other sites like nasioc and ravensblade-impreza if you want to hear it.
