i have both the borla header and the borla catback. no problems with rattling at all. awesome boxer sound, nice deep grumble. the only problem i had is coming off the very last exhaust hanger, but this was solved with a hose clamp.

Many people have complained about Borlas cracking on the weld seems. Your best bet would be to wait untill COBB comes out with equal length headers. Equal length means easier flow=better performance!
borlas are supposably fixed, no more cracking. it had to do with the support piece that was welded in to add strength, prevented movement, and they cracked(someone jump in if i am wrong). the new generation are supposed to be trouble free. and the price comparison between cobbs equal length and the borlas is gonna be what? i bet the cobb is hella expensive

Cobb will definitely be more expensive, but that's because the quality will be infinitely better, and it will make real power. Whatever they charge will probably be what it is worth.

I installed Borla Headers Gen 4, Random Tech cat V2, custom mid-pipe and an STI muffler in my 2000 RS about four months ago. I've been building performance cars for years and the performance increase from the above noted exhaust system for the money can't be be beat and neither can the Borla warranty. I also have other mods on the car which may have added to the overall performance. I just don't understand how anyone can say that Borla headers sound great, but no real HP gain. No bolt on mod is going to make the car sit up and eat peanuts out of your hand, however; if people modded their cars more slowly, they would probably be able to realize the true value or not of each mod.

Borla headers don't provide much power, especially compared to MRT headers. The value of Borlas reside in the fact that they are just plain cheap, and sound really damn cool, with a handful of horsepower to boot. The warranty does kickass, but let's be honest- so does a Hyundai's. Doesn't make me want to run out and trade my RS for a Tiburon.
Fact is, no modern fuel injected, normally aspirated car will 'sit up and eat peanuts' with basic bolt-ons. Not a single one will gain more than maybe 20% if you add intake, full headerback system, pulleys, ignition mods and such but don't crack the heads.
As for limited budget, well, Cobb definitely isn't the way to go if that's your route (like me!) unless you get a sweetheart deal on some used stuff. There are alternatives that are actually better for the dollar you spend, just not quite as high of a performance ceiling.
