125mph
Hey everyone, I was just curious why my 05 rs tops out at 125mph. I'm not complaining or looking for a way to bypass this, I am just wondering what prevents my car from going faster. Is it fuel cutoff, ignition, drag, or a combination of things? Thanks

I have an 05 RS Sport with a 4EAT. My car shifts from 3rd to 4th at about 100-105mph. If I'm on a flat road with a head wind, 4th gear doesn't seem to pull any faster, maybe 110 if I'm lucky. I was going down a hill and I had my GPS with me. After my 3rd to 4th shift at 105, my car pulled pretty good and I burried the speedo past 120. My tach hit 5000 rpm and the speed limiter kicked in. It was very subtle, not like the rev limiter. My GPS comfirmed 124 @5000rpm. I would assume we could go much much faster @6250rpm, but it would take a long stretch of road and a lot of time to go any faster than 125mph in an RS.
