I haven't seen the flange design of Vishnu's STi downpipe. It probably performs as well as the other 'better' turbo back exhausts on the market for the WRX, although the STi system is specific for that car. Boost creep issue notwithstanding, a free-flowing downpipe is necessary with other mods like upgraded turbos.
There are three basic types of downpipes for the WRX and they are:
1) Stock type, with flat plate at turbo flange adjacent to wastegate discharge port.
2) Bellmouth design, with wide opening at turbo flange to lessen disruptive effect of wastegate discharge into exhaust stream.
3) Divorced wastegate pipe, which serves to try to isolate the main exhaust flow from the wastegate discharge. This is the most complicated design to produce.
All three designs are available for the WRX, from a variety of manufacturers, including Vishnu Performance. Strömung has just come out with a divorced wastegate downpipe for the WRX but it's so new that I haven't yet seen any test results.

Vishnu STi exhaust customers have not reported boost creep issues thus far. I do not know if it is because the exhaust doesn't induce it or the Xede takes care of it, but as far as I know you can't tune out boost creep if it's gonna happen. So far only the standard exhaust, which uses a bellmouth downpipe, fits on the STi as the Signature divorced wastegate tube doesn't clear the gearbox.

You mean Xede... don't call it a chip when you call and order it.
You might get a bag of Lay's with your package. As for tuning out boost creep... no, not 100% positive, I'm not a professional tuner. But I don't see how it would work considering the principle the wastegate operates on. It opens up a certain amount to regulate how much exhaust pressure drives the turbine, but it can only open so much. When the amount of exhaust flow exceeds the capacity of the wastegate+turbine housing, boost rises.

gotcha, thanks BAN SUVS. I wasnt completely sure. Hmm I guess I MAY have a brand new in box black Blitz SBC-iD for sale in a few months, I'll keep any buyers updated.
TO ALL THOSE WAITING FOR A PLUG & PLAY XEDE(including me):
I just called Vishnu yesterday(1/23/04) and inquired about it and they told me "you probably won't be seeing a plug & play XEDE for the STi for AT LEAST 5-6 more months."
So that basically leaves us "waiters" at around June/July '04. I will see how well my patience endures...
