Some 06-07 WRX Questions?

I did a search on these two topics, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I just want to know:

1. Any differences between the MY06 WRX and the MY07 WRX? Even if minor, are there any that folks know of?

2. How much BHP can one expect to make on stock internals and transmission? or At what point would either need to be strengthened? (WRX)

Thanks.

My fault, Ive just seen it used a few times, it means Model Year, just another way of saying " '06 Model" for example.

The WRX glass pack tranny doesn't have a set "BHP" that it just explodes on, it is all based on how smooth of a driver you are... If you are hard on your tranny and not smooth at all, you can blow it with stock power levels

Thumbs up

^ no worries. It's good to ask questions. Some things I'm completely amiss to, and there's only one way to find the answers.

As for the tranny, yeah I can see what you mean GT35 by it won't simply "explode", but is it reasonable to get 400 BHP out of the stock car (with simple bolt-ons)? I don't plan on abusing a WRX, but I also don't want to have it set-up for way more power than its stock components can handle.

On the same topic, how would I be able to judge at what point I'd need to upgrade the fuel system?

If you upgrade your turbo, you should upgrade your fuel system.

As for differences, the 07 has an audio Aux-In in the dash for MP3 players. Apparently, there are differences in the headlights, but I can't tell. And, I have heard the heads are better on the 07s, but I have no way to prove that. Just something I heard.

Thanks for helping me out with my questions. I'm just lookin into getting a WRX, so I was trying to get a better idea of any reasons why I might go for an '06 or '07 (other than price differences.)

Since differences seem to be minimal, and manageable, I'm pretty sure I'll base my choice solely off of which WRX I end up finding the best deal on.

Now I'm just wondering how much hp/tq I could expect to get outta this car before I need to upgrade the tranny and engine internals?

I know the headlight and taillight housings are a little different.

I have a VF39 turbo in my '06 from an '05 STI. Other cars' dyno charts that have the same mods are showing 275-315whp after tune, forgot how much torque. I've heard that those are safe numbers and come close to maxing out the tranny.

unless you updrade to a huge turbo you will only need to change out the fuel pump for the 06 and 07 since they have bigger injectors. Its funny how the questions got answers, but was not answered.

i have read posts about the stock tranny going out with 300whp and seen guys with 350whp range running fine. It all comes down to driver and being lucky with a good transmission.

Also the bolt pattern on the 06 STi's is 5x114, but other than that most Imprezas are 5x100.
