The ideal thing would be a custom tune, but without access to a dyno, you'll have to stick with maps made for cars similar to yours.
You could also go with something like the UTEC if you are confident in your own tunign abilities. With a laptop you can adjust anything you want. However, systems like this aren't for beginners.
But to answer your original question, a reflash or Accessport type system will do fine. You won't need a satnd alone EM system.
I have a reflash on my car . It runs fine . A very noticeable power difference . I put my aps fmic , aps cai , and tbe before up-grading my ecu and ran into alot of problems . Boost spikes and alot of back-firing . If you upgrade more parts on your car do the reflash at the same time .
Get cobb tuner software/access port, wide ban 02 sensor ,egt gauge. Put the sensor in the top of you down pipe about 3-4 inches behind the turbo ( like the cobb down pipe), mount the egt gauge on the driver side of the header right in the little button (you will see the button whene you take off the header) learn how to tune your car and tune it on the road.
Admittedly I make this sound simple but it is not very hard at all.
