u have that great 2.5 go with something bigger.....a well tunes 2.5 with a 20g will have little lag and get you some huge whp gains, also the cost will not be much more then your vf30 set up. Just something to think about, hope this helps.

The VF34 is a great turbo and will give you a noticeable improvement on your 2.5L. But, like some others have said, and probably will say, they wish they had gone bigger the first time. (Myself included) You're lucky that you've got a 2.5 as compared to the older 2.0L.......that extra low end grunt will allow you to run a bigger turbo and not get as much lag. I'd say EvoIII 16G would be the smallest , but would probably personally recommend an 18G or bigger. It also depends on what you plan to do with the car as well as your driving style and how you want the car to perform. Buy "big enough" injectors the first time so you won't have to change them out later. At least I wish I did....

Any turbo can be safe as a daily driver, as long as it's installed and tuned properly. You can safely tune/daily drive a FP Green, Red, GT30 etc.... It all depends on how you plan it out.
Also choosing your hotside often has more of an impact on spool than the compressor side.
Staying with a td05 will always spool fairly quickly, even with a 20g compressor, and the td06 will almost always have an impact (although most feel insignficant) on spool.
But choosing to go with a td06 hot side will almost always affect spool (but will yield more top end). I think several people here run the t0618g for example, which is the bigger hot side as opposed to the td05 version.
The same is true with the Garret turbos. Most concentrate on the compressor, but choosing the hot side normally has the most significant affect on lag and top end--.82 versus .63.
I'd also recommend any of the td06 turbos (18g, 20g or green) and some larger injector.s

Safety is relative...tuning is the key.
I say get the larger turbo if it isn't too much more money. Might as well get a bigger bang for your buck than settle for cheapest upgrade.

I daily drive my GT35R just fine. Save up a little longer and go with the bigger turbo.

so you want more power but just a little bit? what are your goals?? like what hp/tq are you looking to get out of it? there is a lot to be said for the stock turbo and i would suggest doing the bolt-ons before you decide you need to go all out swap. not to mention you are gonna loose your warranty on an 07. i would say do the basics like a dp, catback, and AP and see how you like it. you may just find it was what you wanted without having to swap everything. you could do the bolt ons and use the rest for good suspension bits that will make the drive more enjoyable. just another perspective.
I'm debating between the Deadbolt TD05H-18G and the VF34 as well on my '06 WRX...thing is I'm only buying the turbo right now (i found good deals on both). I know I'll need other stuff, but am not quite sure yet what exactly I'll need to upgrade (the turbo will sit in my garage beckoning to be put in).
Will I need new injectors for both or just the 18G?
I already have Walbro 255, dp on the way, and have a cat-back
I am in the process of figuring out which TMIC i wanna buy.
I really only want to reach 300awhp. Also, I'd rather have quicker spool than top end. So for my goal which would be better/cheaper?

That said, if you are already considering a turbo upgrade, have you considered buying an STi? I'm not hating on your car, its just that I have seen people countless times, upgrade thier wrx (turbo, suspension, etc..) to only partout soon after and buy an STi....hell...I'm one of them
Again, I'm not trying to put down the wrx, its a great car and I do miss my 02 wrx wagon (loved the hatch) I'm just giving you my experience. It all comes down your goals and budget (the STi is more to maintain/insure).
Good luck.
