Non tuned question
It can be done, it has been done, if you go too long in that configuration you will likely increase the negative effects of the open/closed loop blip in the ECU. After all of the problems I have had with my car, if I would have done engine management FIRST; I wouldn't have blown the original motor. Get the EM first.

lol... do some research. these subys are alot diff then a honda. lots of tuning needed on theses beast's. ive learned this through time.
Dont get me wrong i know a decent amount of stuff ,but im old school. I came from Mustangs building up blocks to complete motors and all that American crap ,so when it comes down to all this Subaru and computer tuning and F/I EM's or what not im pretty much clueless..and thats why im here to get help and info from you guys. This is all new to me.
Not to jump on you, sorry if it came off that way. Even Mustangs benefit from ECU mapping. Seriously though the question about EM what it does, that's a pretty bad question to ask. If you were to ask "what particular management system would be best for this, that and this. That's certainly a better question that warrants a more technical response. I'm not going to call you the "N" word cause I think it's dumb, and your right we all have to start somewhere. I suggest you read, read, read and when your done read some more. When you're done reading get your questions together and try a search for key words. If your search results do not net good results; ask the question.

One good thing you can always try, is to PM (privet message) one of the venders, 1st off they know their stuff, and 2nd they represent a company and will be professional with their response.
Welcome to i-club I hope you’re not shunned off too badly.
I have been asking that same question repeatedly for the past 2+ years. It turns out only about 10% actually of any given forum knows what they are talking about. The other 90% like to talk trash and tell you what they hear from other people. There is also a loge amount of acronyms you need to study up on, not all are automotive based. Many are internet lingo
