make more power...

you can't remove and re-insert a cat from a catted downpipe, but you can remove and re-insert a sound baffle from an exhaust. How is that unpractical?

I should mention that this is only possible (to my knowledge) with an aftermarket exhaust system. I don't think anyone makes a baffle for the stock exhaust.

I have the HKS HiPower exhaust, and the baffle is inserted in the tail pipe of the exhaust canister, drops it to the legal level. And whenever I want to do a little spirited driving, I just remove it.

yeh, it takes the sound down considerably at idle and low RPMs, towards the higher RPMs it doesn't really quite it much.

np, catless is cheaper, you make more power, and you could always switch back to the stock one when smog time comes (which I believe first smog for your car would be 2011)...
