What branch?

Hey Congrats on your STI and thanks for serving. As much as I don't support our guys being there, I absoultly support the guys who are there. Stay safe and come home to that new STI in one peice!

The 06 is almost identical to the 05 with the exception of cosmetic changes. You have all of the 05 aftermarket bolt ons to play with. I have an 05 that is currently running at 340 wheel horse power / 328 wheel ft-lbs torque. Here is my list so you can use it as reference.

This was my path...

1) AEM Cold Air Intake.
2) DC Sport Catback.
3) PDE UP and Down Pipe.
4) EcuTek Reflash.
5) Dyno Tune.
6) Port and Pollish waste gate.
(running 110% Duty Cycle on Injectors)
7) Walbro 255 l/hr fuel pump.
8) Perrin 816 cc injectors.
9) Perrin high flow fuel rails.
10) Stainless braid fuel lines.
11) Tein Flex Coilovers.
12) Tein EDFC dampening control.
13) Perrin front and rear 3 point adjustable sway bars - kill the understear.
14) DC Sport equal length headers.
---> Oh the Blitz Sequential Boost Controler.
15) Perrin front mount intercooler.
16) FP Red Turbo upgrade.
17) Perrin MAF Ram air intake - replaced the AEM for better flow. (yes Ram air give you better flow than cold air - I can prove it with the ideal gas law)
18) Perrin Oil catch can and lines for new turbo.
19) Perrin dual gague pod w/ Oil temp and Oil pressue.

PM me if you have questions.

im in the army

well i thank ya for your support. i got a question for ya. the EcuTek Reflash, how does that work out. do you do it yourself or do you have to send in your ecu? also, is it best to wait till you have all your aftermarket parts on first before you get the reflash? by the way your car sounds pretty cool with all them parts. do you plan on doing more? im going for 400-450 at wheels, myself.

The EcuTek reflash... basically, you are buying the rights to the software used to tune the stock computer. They only market the tuning software to certified tuners and shops. This is a safe way to change your stock ecu if you use a tuner which is knowledgeable and good at what he does. Basically, a tunner will adjust timing, fuel maps, boost maps etc to better accept bolt on upgrades. I would highly recomend finding a shop which has good reviews and lots of experience. I have heard horrer stories about people who send in their stock ecu to be reflashed via the web. It may be a hundred bucks cheeper but they may download a map that will gernade your engine.

On your project goal to 400 to 450 whp. You will have to have the mods (not the suspension mods of course) that I have above and more. To pull that much power, your going to have to run a fairly large turbo. I think you could do it with the FP Red, especially on race gas to minimize detonation at the agressive AF ratios. Unfortunatly, I would suggest an engine rebuild with forged pistons. You can get really agressive and exchange your block for a JDM Legacy closed block. You can stroke this to 2.8 L which will help spool up of the larger turbos you will need for the higher HP. Beyond this, start thinking about an oil cooler, larger radiator, clutch etc. I would love to hear others opinions on this but to keep the car reliable, look to be spending 15 to 20 K (6 to 7 K for the legacy block/build alone).

That isn't true (I'm not trying to sound like an *** hole im just tryin to help out the 06' owner) but here is what another 06' owner wrote.

DP is shorter by ~4"
2nd Cat is longer
Midpipe has a s curve in the piping right after the donut flange.

Only my axle back would fit.

From talking with others I think if I install a full turbo back and not try and leave any OEM pieces in that It should work.

I'm not trying to sound like an *** hole but PDX Tuning just pulled and replaced a turbo back exhaust on an 06 STI with a Perrin TBE that was designed for an 05 STI. I saw it today. Maybe the other 06 owner doesn't know how to install his exhaust pipes. Sorry.

The only thing that has changed is the styling on the muffler.

Ok, maybe we are unclear on definitions here. Or maybe I wasn't clear enough. When the TBE was replaced there were no differences found between an 06 and an 05 sti except stylings on the muffler. The length of each pipe was the same between the two years. Subaru did not change the length of the exhaust pipes.

I doubt the length of the exhaust has changed. The car is built on the same impreza chassis since the 02. All the changes so far on the body have been cosmetic.
