Need help! '07 STi horrible idle (after APS turbo inlet installed)
Need help! '07 STi horrible idle
I'm pretty sure this is the wrong forum for this, but I figured it would be the most visited. I have an '07 STi, and have been working the last couple days on installing the APS turbo inlet. I finally got it finished a little while ago and went to fire the car back up, but it has a horrible idle now. Revs as low as 400 RPM's then spikes to 3000 to keep the engine running, then back to 1500-2000 inconsistantly which is where it normally sits at when warming up. Can anyone give me some ideas as to what my problem may be? Any help is greatly appreciated as this is my daily driver and would like to get it back running ASAP.
Another update, I just went out and reset the ecu (unplugged negative wire and pressed on the brakes a few times) and let the car run for a minute. It still has the horrible idle, I got in it and tried revving it a hair to see what it would do, and it had horrible throttle response, and then the revs dropped down to what looked like about 200rpm's or so.

The problem is possibly a vacuum leak either at the ends of the turbo inlet hose/pipe or one of the vacuum lines that attach to the inlet. The ecu is sensitive to signals transmitted by the mass air flow sensor.
Resetting the ecu is a good idea whenever you make a modification (or if you find a vacuum leak and correct it).

Sounds like a vacuum leak. I just installed the same kit on my STi and what a pain in the *** it was! It's like a 50 piece kit just for god damn air pipe! Not to mention all the re-routing for vaccum lines and fuel lines. Have you checked the vaccum/fuel delivery diagram from APS because it can get confusing. I know I had to re-read everything like 10x.

Actually you really dont have to do any fuel line modification on the '07, just had to use the 1 spacer to lift the stock lines for a little more clearance.
I managed to fix the vacuum leake, but have another problem on my hands.
Now out of nowhere though, I am having problems with the power steering. It feels like the fluid is low, but the bottle is still almost full, however it seems to be leaking really badly from the lid. I cant find any other leaks or an explanation for what might be causing this though..

The resevior lid? Or are you talking about the power steering feed line, the long metal line that runs across the inlet pipe from the passengers side of the motor that hardly clears the inlet pipe with a lot of force and is held down by a 14mm bolt. Is it leaking form there? If so, did you lose the copper gasket and clip that comes from the factory? That could be your problem.
