Make your own blow off valve?

Why do people spend 100-200 dollars on blow off valves when you can just disconnect and plug the recirculation hose, and put a filter on the end of the stock bypass valve? Is it bad to do that for some reason?

Thanks

cause it doesnt work, cause ur stock bpv let air through the valve slowly and doesnt hold the air in completely, if u do it, when ur car gets warm u will have an uneven idle!

Hmmm well thanks for your thoughts / experiences. I was thinking maybe a harder spring or something might make it work better, or a gasket of some kind. The aftermarket valves can't be that complicated.

a hard spring wont do anyhtin if u look at ur stock bpv, look at the valve their is an air outlet port for it, the tiny as circle in the center is it, when air builds up in ur tmic that circle goes down and allows air to go through slowly
