Major Problems?

i was driving on the highway on a cold night it was about in the 40's my girlfriend tells me to go faster cuz she wants to go home. i step on it and im just about to hit 120 when the car feels like it hit a wall. Then the cruise light and the cel came on. the cruise light was blinking but not the cel. i kept driving and stopped at a gas station. i noticed that underneath the dash near the clutch a green connector or something was loose. i connected it to another plug that was hanging there. it fix perfect so i thought that it went there. when i started the car back up. the cel started to blink.
now im consider cuz ive been hearing that a blinking cel is not good. so i was wondering was me connecting that green plug near the clutch the reason for the blinking cel (hopefully) or could there be a major problem here.
this is my daily driver and i dont want to be driving it with that blinking cel if theres a major problem.
again the blinking cel did not come on untill i connceted that green thing.
im running all catless. 05 STi
anyfeedback would be great

Actually it sounds like a common problem, my guess is you over boosted, a p244 wastegate error or something, if you have tbe it will cause that. i hear that getting your waste gate ported will help fix that. People say that FCD (fuel cut defencer) will work but, since the 05 ecm is "self" learning,(Controlled area Network) it doesnt like it at all. In fact if you hook it up, the car wont start. (tried it last night)
thats my 2 cents
oh and the green thing is for "service" mode you connect it to hook up the dealership scanner. least im pretty sure.

I think most people will be in agreement that your first problem is you had fuel cut probabaly due to boost creep. I know exactly your problem, cause I have the same thing. Chances are, if you have a shop pull the code, it'll be a high wastegate value like LEETSTi said. That's the code I got. I've just been driving around with the blinking cruise light. Downside though is that your cruise control won't work. You'll have to get your wastegate ported, new turbo, or put the cat back in.
In regards to you second problem, here's my experience with an 03 STi. I was helping a fellow 03 STi owner put in a car stereo. During this installation process, my friend saw a connector (not sure of the color) dangling with the other end unplugged next to it....this was on the PASSENGER SIDE behind the kick panel. Like you, he thought it must have come loose, so he reconnected it and forgot he did that. As we finish the stereo install, he turned the key to the ON position and noticed that the CEL was blinking and the radiator fan would turn on and off every few seconds. We spent a day freaking out and troubleshooting the stereo install thinking we jacked something up. The next day he remembered he had connected that mystery connector. So he unplugged it and everything was fine.
So my guess is that this is the same connector, just in a new place on the 05. I would think that this connector is for some service connection or purpose. I'd disconnect it and hopefully your blinking CEL will go away.
Good Luck!

no i have helix downpipe and hks exhaust.
well my story is not over, yesterday i threw a cel and flashing cruise from over boosting. i let it go since i knew what it was. when i got home i turned off the car and when i went back outside turned it on and it was gone. so i thought to myself awesome.
well today i was driving, going about 40 when i see that it pops up again, i was going fast, i didnt over boost or anything. so now im worried again.
could it be from me not reseting me ecu? or could it be something else.
and how do u reset it, i heard something about taking one plug off the battery and starting it up again.
anyfeedback would be great

Oh yeah, also, a cel with a blinking cruise light can mean a couple of things. Sometimes after clearing the cel, I'll just be driving completely normal and the cel will pop back up. When this happens, when I get the code pulled, it's for a cat inefficiency...duh...it's not there!!!
So I think your problems are pretty consisent with what others are seeing. Personally, I can't wait to get my cat back on my TBE (my hi-flow cat broke, awaiting replacement).

so a ported wastegate will eliminate that prob? Eversince I added TBE it has given me the CEL and flashing Cruise Control..

I'll probably get it done in the next couple of months. I was planning to get a new turbo. That was until I did my taxes and found out that I owe Uncle Sam.....damn.

get your car tuned...
running a TBE on an STi will only lead to boost creep, overboosting, and fuel cut.
you don't even need to port your wastegate if you just get it tuned for your setup.
imagine how lean your car is running with that free-flowing TBE and no tuning...
