Losing Oil Quick

I have heard that Subaru is known for losing 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles, but as I was changing my oil the other day it only had 2quarts left. What happened? Is that to much oil to lose? I replaced the filter and the oil and drove the car as usual for a day or two. When I checked the oil that night it was quite low again and I only had driven it for about 200 miles since the oil change.
Is this still considered normal? Someone please advise ASAP before I panic and take it to the dealer.

in the manual it says to check the oil on level ground when the motor is cold. try that! also, look for any leaks in the engine bay or on the ground! I consume about 1/4 of a quart between oil changes... i drive pretty hard too, but i've heard of people consuming up to 1 quart. I think you probably have a leak or something! that's a lot of oil.
goodluck!

That's not normal, and neither is 1qt per 1000 miles.

Are there any obvious leaks? Do you smell or see any oil? any smoke when running?

What vehicle is this on? Year? Model? Engine? List of modifications?

I have an 05 sti, NO Mods Yet! I checked the oil on leveled ground and cool motor. Where can the leak be coming from? Any suggestions anyone?

If you have no modifications, take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. A stock car should not be burning oil. The older WRX's (02/03) had a common oil leak problem at the crank seal and the oil pump seal, but I haven't seen that on the newer cars.

The causes of your problem could be many (bad seal, blow-by, etc.). There usually obvious signs for most of them (oil on the ground, white smoke, power loss, etc.). But since you are under warranty and unmodified, let the dealer earn their pay.

I had well over 100k on the old WRX and it was only taking up maybe 1 quart every 3000 miles. When the car in its prime it wasn't consuming much oil at all after 5000 miles.

You might have excessive blow-by or a leak somewhere that you didn't notice.
