i just did this tonight..it only took me literally about 15 minutes at the most. u don't even have to jack up the car or take the passenger front wheel off. you can definitely hear the turbo spool and hear the stock BPV better!
WAIT- I took mine off but it's because I put on an SPT short intake on. I also bought a pair of subie driving light covers( no lite) and turned one into an air intake. If you just take the snorkus off you're going to be sucking in a lot of low pressure hot air and that's not going to help your power output. If you put in one of the snorkus connector replacements it's ok. I actually also cut off part of the factory "ram air" intake and reinstalled it for additional cool air. I live in AZ with every GD summer day at @100+ and I can feel the difference. But you are going to loose hp if you end up sucking in only hot under hood air.

Wouldn't you ideally want to get this U Joint thing: http://www.subarureview.com/showreview.php?id=1257 so you can still use the snorkel?
LunarHonour,
Hey that thing looks nice. I was thinking of cutting up my old silencer to fab something like that. I am still running the snorkus to blow fresh air into the fender but it's really not rigged up too well (e.g lots of duct tape)
