Helix DP with Stock Exhaust?

Hey 06 sti here, I know the DP is 3" but ive seen ppl say it will work with the stock exhaust, is it true? I am guessing it will bolt up just need some gasket maker to seal the deal?

Any advise?

Thanks guys.

I have an 05. I put in the Helix DP w/cat. It fits fine. You re-use the stock bolts on the turbo end and Helix provided a gasket & bolts for the "catback" end. No mods or extra parts needed. Your factory heat sheild will have to be cut if you want to use it, I just bolted on the Cobb sheild. Get a can of "PB blaster" from any local auto store & spray it on all the nuts/bolts the day before you want to do the install. This will make sure those pesky (rusty) turbo bolts come free without striping.

thanks mike, so it will work thats good news, for now im just going to cut the stock heat shield a bit, then either build my own or buy the cobb. so to the stock exhuast I dont need to use any gasket maker? I read a few others that said it was needed to seal the deal for leaks. just checking so i have everything in order when i goto pull the car apart.

I did not have any leaks. I did my install almost a year ago. I used no extra gasket. The biggest issue for the install was getting those turbo bolts out but if you use the PB blaster they come off like they were loose.

the bolts are easy to get to as long as you have a good wrench or socket that can be extended... It would make life easier if you ask a friend for some help xD
