First step at higher HP at lower RPM suggestions

Hey i-club,
I am exited to meet some subi owners and get in to it all. Where are the S. Bay meets happening?

After driving toyota 4x4's 20 yrs I Recently picked up my first car- 08 impreza wrx. Just love it.

I have been researching for many months, mostly on exhaust but coming up short on the info I am looking for.

Stats,
Very Mechanically inclined. I have a toyota Rock crawler 4 wheeler.
New 08 impreza wrx stock daily driver with Cobb stage 1 tune

Goals:
1. want the Subi sound, without the drone and smell/smoke
2. Increase HP & torque at lower RPM, Quicker throttle response.
3. Which exhaust parts to do and start with?

A. Do I do a High Flow Cat and a Cobb Cat back exhaust and do away with second cat and resonator?
B. Catless divorced Downpipe and after market muffler?
C. High flow Cat downpipe and Perrin cat back?

Please point me to the threads that go into details and provide dyno results

NO, youtube is not a good research tool to decide which sound I want.

There is alot you can do but do alot of research before you purchase something.I have a 02 so can not really help.My guess would be go stage 2 that should give you some nice power (downpipe & tune) if you want to add sound get a exhaust and a intake. So far im very impressed with Cobb, product wise and customer service is great. The intake will give you a nice whistle sound and a light swoosh like a bov,the exhaust will give you the rumble you are looking for.Enjoy

^Basically what he said. Get a turbo back exhaust and a tune. I would go with a high flow catted down pipe so that way you're not shooting fireballs and then just research or come out to the meets to hear what exhaust you like. You should come out tomorrow for the weekly Weds vajayjay meet. Get there early cause we're gonna caravan to Cupertino for the hypermax meet. Just an FYI and Hope this helps.

Since you have an 08+ I say you go get a top mount along with your items. Our top mounts are notorious for blowing up.

Check out the milltek catback, mannengineering has them pair it along with a catted downpipe, you'll get rumble but be quiet still.

You can hook up meth for more low end torque. E85 helps with torque too

Pushing higher booster on the 05-09 Legacy and 08+ WRX is known to blow the endtanks off on our intercoolers. Even stock boost can rip those apart.
