hey guys, I drive a 2006 wrx with 30k miles and recently swapped a vf39 & sti tmic and am running the cobb vf39 map.
i also recently started throwing a Cylinder 1 Misfire code. At first i thought i just got a bad batch of the 91 cali **** gas, but it started coming on a little after every fill up.
im not sure what steps to take first, should i change out the plugs with oem ones? or go ahead and switch to one step colder plugs? also, what is the gap i should be using? Please give me your thoughts or suggestions. thanks in advanced.
mods are
vf39
sti tmic
cobb ap, vf39 map
bosal divorced dp
hks carbon ti
k&n drop in filter

From my research on nasioc, ngk iridium plugs are already gapped, so if you do switch them yourself, I wouldnt recommend messing with them. There is a spark plug faq on nasioc if you want to check it out.
I just rechecked your mods...doesnt that map require STi pink injectors????

as for the injectors, the cobb website said that i dont need injectors due to the 06 wrx's having bigger injectors.
ahhhhh yes, I overlooked that. I still vote to take it to a tuner and/or get a custom tune. Cobbs maps work, but in the end a map specially made for your car is the most efficient. Good luck!

thanks. i already have an appointment this friday at GST, but im hoping to get that problem fixed before the tune so i dont have any problems. do you think theyll be able to diagnose the problem?
This is just one part of the modding game - risk.
Hopefully its something maintenance related thats easy to fix, with these types of problems you just have to trouble shoot one step at a time, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, tune.....has the k&n drop in filter been cleaned recently? Ive heard that the k&n filters do indeed flow more....but get dirty VERY quickly. Hopefully its something simple like that.

Ive never had a pulley on my old wrx or my current STi but Ive read that it helps the engine rev a tad faster....not increase horsepower.
