big turbos for '05 STi
Hey all well it's a good change going from my rex to my '05 aspen/gold STi.
Currently I'm kind of at a wall as far as choosing a turbo. My buddy just put a GT35R on his STi and it's quite nice. However what would you think as far as a GT40 turbo?
As far as Garretts are concerned what do you guys think about other turbos? Turbonetics? - I've been looking at the sr55 but it doesn't make enough power - why I started looking at the GT35R...
Any thoughts on GPMoto besides the price?!
Lemme know what you all think - I'd appreciate it...
BTW I'm looking between upper 60's to lower 80's (max) a/r with a fairly large and heavy comp wheel and most likely a T4 inlet...
Peace, Jake.

Take a good look at the Forced Performance Red Turbine. I have it and absolutely love it. First of all its a TD06H hotside mated with a 65 lb/hr compressor wheel, secondly it mounts in the stock turbo location - way less expensive in pipe fabrication.
You can get them internally or externally gated and my tuner, Tim Bailey of PDXTuning in Portland OR, was able to tune his Red to 507 whp on a mustang dyno and 52x whp on a dyna pack.

i've looked into the fp red.. i'm still kinda stuck on a gt35r garrett with crower connecting rods, JE Pistons and rings, ARP head studs... 30 psi is my goal (ecuteked) with 550 whp and a little more wheel torque..

Currently pulling 360whp (Matrix Mustang Dyno) with stock engine internals and 92 octane gas.
Interesting note, Tim's car still has stock internals but as they will tell you, they get REALLY agressive on their own cars so they don't break their customers cars! My kind of shop!
