Lightbulb aps sr50 turbo opinions needed!

I'm still a noob when it comes to turbos, but anyways...

I have an opportunity to pick up a aps sr50 from a friend for 700 with about 10k on it. I am currently driving an 07 wrx with a Cobb AP tuned by Ed @ EQ Tuning with a Halman MBC pro, KN panel filter, Crucial shorty dp, gutted 3rd cat (hopefully being replaced with a turbo xs testpipe soon!) and HKS catback.

I know in order to run this turbo I should upgrade to a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, STi tmic or better and also injectors (friend was recommending 850cc?!?).

I havent found too much info on any of the forums about this turbo other than potential hp of 350 to 500 (supposedly claimed by aps). Any i-clubbers opinions who have this turbo or experience with larger setups would be appreciated. My goal is to keep the car streetable, but extract better torque out of the motor bc the stock turbo pitters out after about 4.5k rpms giving me that flaccid feeling

I picked up an sr55 a couple months ago, haven't installed it but if APS is right then we should be expecting something fun

Not sure on 850cc, he might just be saying that because according to this calculator:
http://www.deatschwerks.com/catalog/...alculators.php

With a power target of 400, 4 injectors, .55 BSFC, and only 80 max duty, I would only need 721.9cc.

If you want to save some cash, send your injectors to be modded through agency power, or whoever, thats what I'm doing. STi injectors made to 816cc for $230. I'd call whoever is going to tune your car first and double check with them as well, no such thing as to many opinions.

Thanks for the reply. 850s sounded big. Good to know there's other options. Anynody know if the stock 5spd and diff can handle tha additional torque on the drive train?

I think the 07 had a 3.45 rear diff and silly long gears, so it'll be less inclined to tolerate hammering from 300+ hp

but go for it

that turbo will make like 330whp on pump...if that. You really need race gas to get good power gains.

I am not too concerned about hp (although over 300 is great). I really want to maximize the torque potential of the motor/turbo setup to improve drivability

Moded injectors leak, Agency power dont let them touch anything on your car

hmm well i dont have this turbo.... buuuut i do have a bigger turbo, anyways.... 850cc seem right for this turbo.... i would also think you would wanna go with a fmic, and iam pretty sure your gonna need to switch your inlet to a bigger one. also if you plan on doing any other type of fuel besides pump you might wanna get a electronic boost controller. i used to have a hallman mbc on my car and it was a pain to try and guess where i was supposed to have it set when i switched fuels. n for good measure, with a wrx you might wanna save for a clutch cuz it will prolley go out on the dyno.
