I have an 04 STI and would like a 3 inch to 2.5 inch taper w/a high flow resonator if possible. I have a random technologies 3" turbo back w/cats right now. any information would be greatly appreciated.

 

do you want to know if it can be done? if so , yes.

 

I would like to see a clean taper that spans more than 18 inches. If this can be done please let me know who to contact? Thanks for the help.

 

tapering over 18 inches might be a tall order, most exhaust shops can fit a custom made reducer piece. Some after-market mufflers will come with a weld-on reducer cone. Depending how far back this reducer is in your system, the further away to the back , the better because exhaust has cooled down enough so it wont interupt flow.

a tall order meaning you will pay more for such a custom piece than its worth, by a longshot.

just get a "low-backpressure" resonator that is 3", there is no reason to taper down to 2.5" if you're running the Random Tech TBE...

 

There is no reason, except the noise diffference between the 3" muffler I have and the extremely quiet stock one.
