2007 STI upgrades
umm...cops can harass you for just about anything they want. I was pulled over twice for my non-stock looking exhaust (Greddy Racing Ti-C) and they had me pop my hood both times. They were just looking for a reason to fine me or send me to the state ref. That's why I switched exhausts in the first place. Trying not to attract uneeded attention is key.

Check out the APS TBE exhuast. I've been running that for 2 years now and haven't had a problem with it. It looks stock, sounds beefy but not too loud.
If interested I'm going back to stock.

Like the others said, plan to save some cash on the side for a new motor. It may or may not happen to you, but after my ring lands blew at 40k miles (with a very mild stage 2 tune from a reputable local tuner for over 2 years) I can only recommend to be prepared.
Check oil frequently, and have a compression/leak down test done at a regular interval.
