15,000 is alot..but if u figure the price of a turbo kit($2500-3000)/new motor to handle the new turbo($3500)/suspension($2000)/EM($700-2000)/intercooler($700-1500)/tuning(300-800)/labor to install($1500-2500)/twin plate($1200-1400)/rims tires ($1200-2200).....that 15k all goes away very fast.

ADD...
brakes
shortshifter
interior
radio
gauges
chasis mods
and stuff to make the car look better like tint/lips/wings etc...

WOW

This makes me want to cry

Um, you dont need a new motor....

But you will need to build it depending on what hp levels you want to achieve which you didnt describe at all

You basically don't know what you're doing, and spending that $15,000 may go to waste. Why invest so much in a car, when you can invest on something much better? Unless, you're going to track and race that thing all the time. But for daily driving... that's 15 grand waste.

But your best move is to look around in your area, or even a little outside your area for car tuners. Getting opinions from people can only get you so much help. Especially spending is $15,000 ain't a joke.

Just tossing $.02, but I wish you luck!

Give the MZN International garage in Austin TX a call. They have at least two STis they built that are clearly respectable for far under 15G. They are making mine as I type this for half that. They recommend all APS stuff and clearly for a reason. All you need is Cusco or Whiteline sway bars, and STi pink springs as well as your performance mods (everyone has a different situation so mods will vary) and you'll have an incredible car. I will tell you though, after 400hp or so on the stock turbo mods will start pushing you 15k limit. Just remember that the STi is a new car and that a "bolt on" kit for 420 should draw some suspicions. I promise you that if you go by the advise of the people on this site you won't be disappointed. I let them advise me and I have a nagging suspicion my car will be pretty good. You have to judge your mods based on what you'll use the car for, how often you drive and what you like. Every person wants something a little different than the next. Read the links in the STi section (threads of note) and you should have enough info to make your own decisions on what is right for you. Happy building on your car and kept the thread going. Thanks to all the iclub members, I'm picking this up quick.

Performance first, function always.

...i told one of the tuners that i wanted about 500 whp and i wanted to build of my block to handle it...
Why do you think you need 500 wheel horsepower? Forgive my asking, but you sound like you're not at all familiar with modified Subarus. Have you owned other cars with that sort of power-to-weight ratio like the one you want to have built? What is your intended usage?

What he said. Just tune it to the highest octane available to you man. 500 hp may requier you to run a certain octane which may not be available in ur area. This is just my opinion though.
