Im looking for the first mod for my 04 STi. I've been out of the loop for a while and was needing some help getting back up to speed. I would like to start with the exhaust. Im would like to replace my DP only, for now. Is there one that would work with the stock exhaust? The car only has 11k miles on it so I done want to do to much to fast. I had a 03 WRX with a few mods and Im looking forward to squeezing a little more out of the STi. Any help would be great.

My friend also has an 04 and runs a Perrin downpipe with the stock exhaust with no apparent problems. My understanding is that its the downpipe that makes the most power, the cat-back is just for sound.

Video not working properly? Guy starts car, exhaust rumble, wind-noise, then silence. Are you saying that Perrin downpipe + stock exhaust sounds like azz?

 

The Helix w/ stock cat back sounds nasty. I could'nt get the video part to work just the audio.

 

Nasty as in good/bad? Nasty with a STI? or WRX?

 

Nasty as in Bad, There is a video around that shows it, very raspy and I would never do that to a STi.
