WRX/STI/ForresterXT MPG Tracking
Hey guys, I've been wanting to collect some stats on the various MPG's that some people get and compare the results with some graphical analysis. So I whipped up the following PHP page where you can input your info.
When we have a good amount of collected data, I'll run some reports and we'll post the results here! Pass this link along to ALL Subie owners!

Thanks DLUX, I'll post better graphs and statistical analysis on that same location in a week or so (or whenever we get good data collected)
Pass the word on!

The gauges read incorrectly and inconsistently, if you get your fuel economy like this it could be close or it could be far off.
Proper method, fill all the way up(until automatic shut off), reset your trip odometer. Drive around, fill all the way up again. Note odo reading, divide by gallons put in, that is your MPG. Repeat serval times for accuracy.
There is another factor you might want to consider --- having the A/C on with my 2002 WRX makes a difference of 30 miles a tank, very significant. I get 270 miles a tank in the summer, 300 in the winter. That's 21.46 MPG vs 24 MPG.
Nice job on the site.

I would think that most people calculate their MPG using that method you mentioned. I mean, it makes sense to fill up a tank, reset the odometer, and then write down the mileage and gallons filled when you fill up the next time.
That's quite accurate, even when you do 1/2 tank or so. Just look at the odometer that you reset the last time you got gas. I'm quite satisfied with results calculated in that fashion, and I'm sure most people are quite intelligent enough to figure that one out.
As for A/C, I'm not really worried about it. I mean, who remembers if they had A/C on the ENTIRE time they drove that tank. I don't even want to get into the habit of trying to calculate for those changes as well, cause most people don't run the A/C at a consistent level, or even run it ALL the time.
I think what we have so far is a great resource. Thanks for sharing.
